Dr. Michael Margolis became interested in Orthodontics
at the age of 10 when he visited his orthodontist, Dr. Bronsky because
of a space between his front teeth. In high school, he interviewed
Dr. Bronsky for a class assignment and found out more about the Orthodontic
profession; this planted the seed that would later grow into a career
goal.
He attended Cornell University and graduated with a Bachelor
of Science degree in Biology, and an interest in scientific
research. The State University of New York at Buffalo was his choice
for dental school because of its strong reputation for excellent
clinical training, along with top-notch dental research. It was here that
Dr. Margolis decided on a career that would combine research, teaching
, and the practice of Orthodontics. He chose the University of North
Carolina for his Orthodontic residency, considered by many to be
the top program in the country, combined with Ph.D. training in molecular
biology.
After graduating, he took a position as an Assistant Professor
of Orthodontics at the University of Connecticut, a job that combined
research, teaching and practicing Orthodontics. After four years
at UConn, he realized that the part of the job he loved most was
caring for orthodontic patients, and began looking for a private
practice opportunity.
The retirement of Dr. Leritz brought him to
Wilbraham, where he has lived with his wife Maureen, a children’s
dentist, and his two children, Allison and Carly for the past 9 years.
Outside of providing excellent orthodontic care and spending time
with his family, Dr. Margolis is an extreme-sports enthusiast, enjoying
a passion for kiteboarding, mountain biking, and snowboarding. He
continues to teach Orthodontics to the residents at the University
of Connecticut on a part time basis. |
